BEDA International Design Policy Conference 5th of December in Helsinki

Successful Europe How can design serve Ornamo BEDA

In order to collaboratively evolve its approach to the development and co-design of next generation ‘design in policy’ for Europe, BEDA in collaboration with Ornamo, is inviting 100 European and international policy experts to come together in Helsinki as a part of the side programme of Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, in order to discuss the following key question: 

In an age of complex global challenges, how can design serve in shaping a successful Europe? Invited experts from a wide range of fields including business, design / design policy, government, the environment, policymaking and science & technology, will explore new ways for design to positively influence and support decision-makers seeking new approaches and solutions in:

  • Climate change & the circular economy – uncovering new insights and approaches through design

  • Digitalisation & artificial intelligence – designing in human values and social purpose to harness good

  • Shared European values – shaping together the future we want to have

The conference programme will be published during October.

Keynote speakers

Keynote speakers include Erkki Liikanen, the former Governor of Bank of Finland and former EU Commissioner and
Timo Pesonen, Director-General of EU Commission DG GROW.

Registration is now open for invitees. Please register preferably before Friday 4th October and latest by Friday 1st November 2019. Registrations after 1st November cannot be guaranteed attendance.
