At the Faculty of Art and Design, University of Lapland there is University Teacher in Service Design post available for the period of 1.12.2022-30.11.2028 

University Teacher will work in Service Design Strategies and Innovations Masters programme (SDSI) which is Erasmus Mundus funded Joint Masters project ending 30.11.2028.

Service Design Strategies and Innovations Masters programme, SDSI (120 ECTS)
SDSI is involving the Art Academy of Latvia, the University of Lapland, the Estonian Academy of Arts and the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, aimed at educating of leaders who will be able to address ongoing shift to sustainability and digitalization in a human-centred way. SDSI will prepare students to become versatile service innovators who can enable change in public and private organizations through strategic design, management and creative leadership. Its focus is on interdisciplinary studies and cross-specialization in design, business, technologies and social sciences. SDSI graduates will become change facilitators to contribute to innovative, effective and socially responsible service organizations globally, in their home countries after graduation.

University Teachers role and tasks
University Teacher in service design will be responsible for service design teaching of the SDSI students at the University of Lapland. This will include teaching digital service design, strategic service design, design management, design sprint, introduction to service design and design research related methods. Some of the teaching will take place in Sinco lab (service prototyping lab) and online. The teacher will also work as a tutor for the SDSI students. Studies will include industry engagement that the University Teacher will coordinate. University Teacher will also coordinate SDSI project and will support tasks needed for the management and implementation of the project.

Qualifications needed
The appointee to a position of University Teacher is required a relevant master’s degree and experience in teaching work. In the qualification assessment of candidates applying for a position of University Teacher, emphasis is laid on comprehensive competence in the subject area, pedagogical training, and skill to produce learning material and to teach across the subject area.

According to the Government Decree on Universities (770/2009) the language requirements of a person employed by the university in a teaching and research position is required to be proficient in the relevant teaching language. The language of teaching and research of the University of Lapland is Finnish. If a foreigner or a Finnish citizen who is non-native or who has not been educated in Finnish applies for a teaching and research position, this person can be granted an exemption from the requirement concerning proficiency in Finnish laid down in the Decree on Universities.

We are looking for an experienced teacher in service design with relevant masters degree. We appreciate work life experience in service design. We are looking for a University Teacher especially with excellent English skills, good networking and interaction skills and preparedness to travel within SDSI community. Experience of guidance of master thesis is read as an advantage for an applicant.

Salary
The University Teachers salary is based on the universities salary system, teaching and research personnels competence level 4, according to which the monthly task-specified salary component amounts to €2628,85. In addition, the total salary includes a personal salary component amounting up to 50% of the task-specified salary component.
