Ornamo Art and Design Sale at Design Lab Gallery 10-18 2024, curated by Veikko Halmetoja
This year, Ornamo Art and Design Sale will be held at the Design Lab Gallery at Iittala & Arabia Design Centre from 10 to 18 February 2024. More than 90 artists and designers offer a vantage point over their arts and crafts. The exhibition works are selected and hung by art critic and curator Veikko Halmetoja. Ornamo Art and Design Sale opens its webstore in February.
The Art and Design Sale exhibition has found its audience among fans of the industry as well as art buyers and established its place as a display of unique contemporary art and artesan crafts. As usual, the gallery displays a collection of material-based works of art and unique utility objects by Ornamo’s artists, made of, e.g., ceramic, glass, textile and wood. There are more than 90 artists involved. The works can be taken home immediately, and the exhibition will be supplemented as the works are sold.
The art installation designer Veikko Halmetoja is excited about the task at hand.
– It is interesting to design an installation with focus on extravaganza. I highlight the unique works of Ornamo’s members with emphasis on quality but not pursuing minimalism. More is more!, the curator Halmetoja envisions.
Ornamo Art and Design Sale opens a webstore opens in February!
All exhibition works are also sold in the Art and Design Sale webstore from 10 to 29 February 2024 at www.teosmyynti.fi. The online store has been renewed, and buyers can book and buy works online easily. The online store also sells works that are not on display in the Design Lab Gallery. You can order transport for the work or pick it up during the event from Art and Design sale.
The Sale features the latest works from established artists as well as from new talented creators. This year, the exhibition will be attended by, among others, ceramic artists Kirsi Kivivirta and Merja Castrén, textile designers Sini Villi and Teija Vartiainen, glass artist Katerina Krotenko as well as designers Milla Vaahtera and Sauli Suomela. In the exhibition there will also be joint works by ceramic artist Leena Kouhia and artist Réka Király.
The 2024 venue, the Design Lab Gallery of the Iittala & Arabia Design Centre, offers a beautiful and bright setting for experiencing art.

The Design Lab Gallery, which displays temporary exhibitions, is located in the Iittala & Arabia Design Centre in Hämeentie, in the historical ARABIA135 block. On the premises, you can also find Design Museum Arabia, displaying design history, a store selling the current Iittala and Arabia collections, as well as the Arabia Art Department Society’s studios for artists.
