1.-30.9. Homo Faber 2024: The Journey of Life, Venice, Italy 

Homo Faber 2024 takes you on a journey through a human life viewed through the lens of craftsmanship. In immersive exhibitions staged across the magnificent spaces of Fondazione Giorgio Cini, discover hundreds of handcrafted objects made by talented craftspeople from all over the world.

This cosmic vision of the future remains firmly rooted in the reality of an anniversary exhibition that is resolutely focused on novelty, creativity, and innovation.

9.9. & 12.9. TRACtion Workshop: Tradition vs Innovation in Design

The workshop is organized by the international TRACtion research project, which includes the University of Helsinki, the University of Malta, and ATU St. Angela’s College in Ireland. The University of Helsinki team is led by Prof. Riikka Räisänen. The project explores traditional costumes and the craft techniques used in them across these three countries.

In the workshop, participants will be inspired by the craft traditions of different cultures and will learn techniques such as pleating, stitch embroidery, and raised embroidery. The workshop is intended for craft enthusiasts, craft teachers and instructors, as well as textile artists. While we recommend attending both workshops, participation in just one is also possible.

Please prepare the following materials for the Zoom session: colored pencils, thick paper, embroidery needles and threads, wool yarn, fabric pieces, ironing equipment, measuring tape, fabric chalk or marking pen. The workshop is in English.

14.9.-7.11. European Ceramic Context 2024, Denmark

European Ceramic Context 2024 focuses on sustainable practices in contemporary ceramics. The two major exhibitions will showcase new and significant works, projects, and installations, offering an overview of experimental, innovative, and sustainable trends in contemporary European ceramics.

13.-15.9. Artigianato E Palazzo, Firenze, Italy

The 30th-anniversary exhibition produced by the Corsini Garden Association aims to highlight the contemporary nature of craftsmanship while remaining rooted in the tradition of ancient artisanal practices.

2.-6.10. Stockholm Craft Week, Sweden

Stockholm Craft Week is an annual event aiming to make contemporary craft visible and strengthen its position on the contemporary art scene, both nationally and internationally. Since the premiere in 2019, the event has grown bigger and become a success for professionals as well as an audience interested in art.

11.-13.10. Ethnofest 2024, Georgia

Tbilisi International Summit Of Crafts And Design – ETHNOFEST Is One Of The Largest Platforms For Craft Makers, Designers, Entrepreneurs, Retailers, Experts, Commercial Agents, Buyers And General Public In The South Caucasus Region.  

15.–17.11. Finnish Craft and Design Fair, Tampere

Finnish Craft and Design Fair is the most anticipated craft and design event of the year within Finland and all of Europe. Event will bring light and joy in the middle of the darkest season on November.

23.11. The International Craft Audiovisual Exhibition Barcelona, Spain

The International Craft Audiovisual Exhibition presented by the Catalan Government through the Consortium of Commerce, Crafts and Fashion (CCAM), celebrates the intersections of crafts, craftsmanship and the audiovisual arts.

European Prize for Applied Arts 24, Belgium
