New IITTALA grant supports material-based design
Iittala has donated EUR 60,000 to the Ornamo Foundation’s general fund. The donation serves as initial capital for the IITTALA grant, which is established and distributed to designers and craftsmen. With the donation and the named grant, Iittala wants to show its appreciation for the Finnish design industry and designers.
This year, a total of 10,000 euros will be awarded in IITTALA grants, in two separate grants of 5,000 euros. In the future, the amount of the grant will be determined by the return on the donated capital. The IITTALA grant will be applied for at the same time as the Ornamo Foundation’s other grants. The application period for the grants is 1.6.-1.8.2025.
The IITTALA grant is aimed at material-based design and making based on knowledge of the material, especially for artisans and designers.

For thirty years, the Ornamo Foundation has supported and promoted the work of the members of the design community Ornamo ry in the fields of local environmental design, arts and crafts, industrial design, interior architecture, ceramic art, fashion design and textile art.
Ornamo Foundation is supporting the vitality of Finnish design by awarding grants and prizes to designers of the Ornamo community.
The Ornamo Foundation’s general fund consists of donations previously made by prominent figures in the field of design Alva Bergroth, Arttu Brummer, Eeva Renvall, Marja Suna, Lena Strömberg, Hannu Kähönen, Ilmari Tapiovaara, H.J. and Irmeli Viherjuuri, Anna-Liisa Wiikeri and Gerda and Salomo Wuorio.
The Ornamo Foundation accepts donations from both private individuals and companies that want to support Finnish design and arts and crafts. In accordance with the decision of the Finnish Tax Administration on 4 November 2024, Ornamo Foundation sr has been designated as the recipient of a tax-deductible monetary donation for the years 2024–2028.
