Membership fee discounts

We offer membership fee reductions for changing life situations. If you are on parental leave, unemployed, or unable to work due to disability, you may be eligible for a reduced membership fee.

You can receive a discount on Ornamo’s membership fee based on the criteria listed below. The discount is granted either for the entire calendar year or for half a year.

The minimum continuous duration of the qualifying situation within a calendar year is three months. Discounts are not granted for unpaid periods shorter than this. A discount is always granted for a maximum of one calendar year at a time.

To be granted a discount, a certificate no older than 1 month is required, which demonstrates the reason for the discount (excluding the recent graduate discount). More detailed information about the required document can be found in the list below. Apply for a discount with an official certificate in PDF format by contacting office@ornamo.fi, where you will also receive a secure email connection for sending documents.

Part-time work arrangements (such as partial retirement, partial parental leave, part-time work, or partial layoff) do not qualify for a membership fee discount.

Graduation

Recent graduates transitioning from student membership to full membership automatically receive a discounted membership fee.
We will update your student membership to full membership based on the estimated graduation year you have provided.

You do not need to notify us separately when you graduate (except for Ornamo-TEK dual members). However, please remember to inform us if your studies are delayed from the original estimate so that we do not change your membership unnecessarily.

Discounted membership fee for recent graduates: €99
Parental leave
You may be eligible for a discount if you are on full-time maternity, parental, or childcare leave. The discount applies to the period during which your employer does not pay a salary.

Your application must include a copy of Kela’s maternity and parental allowance decision or home care allowance decision.

Discounted membership fees:
- Leave lasting less than 6 months: €162.50 (half-year discount)
- Leave lasting more than 6 months: €120 (discounted annual fee)
Unemployment
You can get a discount if you are unemployed, jobseeker or on full-time layoff.

Please provide us with a copy of your most recent payment notification (unemployment fund, Kela, etc.) or a certificate from the employment authority, no older than 1 month. In the event of layoff, the layoff notification from your employer will also be accepted as a document if you have just been laid off and have not yet received daily allowance.

Discounted membership fees:
- Temporary layoff lasting less than 6 months: €162.50 (half-year discount)
- Unemployment or layoff lasting more than 6 months or indefinitely: €120 (discounted annual fee)
If you have already paid the membership fee for the current year before the leave began, you can apply for a refund after three months.
Disability or long-term illness
You can apply for a discount on your membership fee if you have been granted a disability pension or are on a long-term sick leave (over 3 months).

Please attach proof of the unpaid sick leave period or an official certificate of disability.

Discounted membership fees:
- Sick leave lasting 3–6 months: €162.50 (half-year discount)
- Sick leave lasting more than 6 months or permanent disability: €120 (discounted annual fee)
