Make an impact – Voting for Board candidates opens on 3rd of November

THE APPLICATION PROCESS HAS ENDED.

At Ornamo’s autumn meeting, members will again elect new members to Ornamo’s multidisciplinary board. This year, three new board positions will become available for the term starting on 1 January 2026. The term of office will last two years.

Board work is a central part of our design community and Ornamo’s decision-making: it provides a vantage point to develop the entire industry, understand the multidisciplinary field of activity of members, and network with stakeholders.

We are now looking for new board members to bring their expertise to strengthen designers’ sustainability expertise and professional capabilities, promoting the impact of design, and developing design education.

This autumn, we are looking for the following experts in particular to strengthen the diverse expertise of Ornamo’s board.

• A visionary sustainability designer

• An experienced Head of Design in the industrial or service sector

• An expert in product development and commercialization

• Expert in universities of applied sciences in design education

You can stand as a candidate if you

• are a full member
• have a right to vote
• have not served two successive terms at Ornamo’s board prior to standing as a candidate

If you desire to develop and reform the design community, the professional field and its way of working and for making design visible as solving the problems of the society you might be a good fit for Ornamo’s board.

As a board member you get to share your knowledge and bring up issues that matter the most to you. Being a board member also offers an excellent opportunity for networking.

Send a short introduction (750 characters and your first name, last name and domicile) and a picture of yourself by the 8.10.2025 to info@ornamo.fi with a title “Ornamo board member election”. Please also share what are your areas of interests for working in the board. We will edit the materials and create equal presentations of all candidates. Everyone who share their introduction by the deadline are presented at Ornamo’s website.

Ornamo board is elected by the General Autumn Meeting.

The election itself takes place at an online election platform eVaali. The electronic voting system will open on the 3rd of November at 5PM and and closes on 16th of November 2025 at 4:59 p.m.

All eligible Ornamo members will be notified for their right to vote via email. eVaali platform uses encrypted SSL connection. After the identification you are transferred to the voting website.You do not need online banking or other credentials. After identifying yourself, you will be taken to the website where the voting takes place.

Full members that have been accepted as members at least eight (8) weeks prior to the General Autumn Meeting and do not have any overdue payments  open on the 24th of September 2025 are entitled to vote. Voting right is not affected by upcoming payments which have an agreed payment plan. 

In addition, honorary members who have been full members of Ornamo before being invited to become honorary members have the right to vote. Student members, business members, free members, honorary members and community members have the right to be present and speak.

The electoral roll, i.e. the list of members entitled to vote, is available at the Ornamo office on Tuesdays from 10 am to 4 pm. You can also ask about your own situation at: office@ornamo.fi.
