Frequently Asked Questions: KOKO and TEK Membership and Billing

General Information on Applying for KOKO and TEK Membership

KOKO and TEK membership must be applied for separately after you have been accepted as a member of Ornamo.

Ornamo-TEK student membership is free. You can only be a TEK student member once. This means that if you apply for Ornamo-TEK student membership and have been a TEK student member before but resigned, TEK will no longer accept you as a student member.

When you graduate, Ornamo-TEK membership becomes chargeable from the beginning of the month following your graduation.

Ornamo-KOKO membership can be applied for when you are employed; you cannot apply for membership while studying or on parental leave, but a student can apply while working, for example, during summer employment. See detailed information on the KOKO fund’s website.

Those applying for KOKO fund membership are requested to provide employment and salary information as part of the joining process.

When are the invoices from KOKO and TEK sent?

If you are already a member of KOKO or TEK through Ornamo, you will receive the membership fee invoice at the beginning of the year, simultaneously with the Ornamo membership fee invoice.

If you join as a member, you will receive the membership fee invoice upon joining.

The KOKO fund membership fee is billed, including the joining month and until the end of the year. The TEK membership fee is billed from the month following the joining month to the end of the year. The KOKO fund membership is activated only after the invoice is paid.

Ornamo-TEK members are entitled to a reduced membership fee in certain cases. See detailed information on the TEK website. The right to a discount must be proven by sending an official decision or equivalent document.

When is a payment reminder sent?

A payment reminder is issued when the membership fee is not paid, and no payment plan has been made and followed. Like Ornamo’s membership fee, two payment reminders are sent for KOKO fund and TEK membership fees.

What if the invoice remains unpaid?

If the Ornamo-TEK membership fee invoice remains unpaid, the unpaid fees will be reported to TEK at the beginning of the next year, and TEK will make a termination decision.

If the KOKO fund invoice remains unpaid, the unpaid fees will be reported to the KOKO fund at the beginning of the next year. The KOKO fund will contact unpaid members directly in accordance with its obligations before deciding to terminate the fund membership.

I want to resign from Ornamo. Does resignation also affect KOKO fund and TEK membership?

If you resign from Ornamo, you can continue your fund membership by becoming a direct member of the KOKO fund. We will initiate the direct membership request on your behalf.

If you want the resignation to take effect immediately, we will refund you the paid portion of the KOKO fund membership fee from the month following the resignation month until the end of the year. If you have transitioned to direct membership, the KOKO fund will send you a new invoice accordingly. Similarly, we will refund the remaining TEK membership fee when resigning in the middle of the year.

If you have already paid the Ornamo, KOKO fund, and/or TEK membership fee for the entire year and want your Ornamo membership to end at the end of the year, we can agree that you will become a direct member of the KOKO fund at the beginning of the next year. Similarly, TEK membership can be agreed to end at the end of the year.
