Sustainability training programme for design companies & designers in 2026
Join us to develop your sustainability and responsibility skills. Choose the way that suits you best to take part in this shared journey and register for workshops, networking events or sparring sessions.
Throughout 2026, we offer practical tools to advance sustainability in your design business or to strengthen your role as a sustainability expert within your organisation. You will gain insights into international trends and expert knowledge on future skills, and learn how to apply these insights concretely in your own work and in developing your company. Learn future-oriented skills that help your business succeed responsibly.
The sessions are designed to complement and support one another. We encourage participants to attend as many sessions as possible. Those who actively participate in the training programme will receive a certificate of participation.
Who is this for?
Our sustainable design entrepreneurship network offers design professionals, entrepreneurs and employees in the design sector the opportunity to deepen their understanding of responsibility and its practical application in design together with experts in design & sustainability.
Learn to manage responsibility in design in practice
We collaborate extensively with Finnish and international companies, experts and organisations. Topics range from building sustainable business models to the environmental impacts of materials, sales, and sustainability reporting.
Over the course of the year, the network’s trainings and workshops will cover topics such as:
- sustainable business strategies for design companies
- responsible use and circulation of materials
- assessing the environmental impacts of services and products
- selling sustainability
- managing changes in a company’s operating environment
Participants will gain the skills needed to act as pioneers of responsible design, develop sustainable business models and services, and leverage networking for knowledge sharing and the discovery of new practices.
Please notice that some of the events are in Finnish only. Personal consultation & training can be done in English, too.

During 2026, we offer tools to advance sustainability in your design company or to strengthen your sustainability expertise within your organization. You’ll gain insights into international trends and expert knowledge on future skills, and learn how to apply them concretely to your work and business development. Learn the skills of the future that will help your company succeed sustainably.
Workshops can be attended flexibly throughout the year, and the content is complemented by online materials.

Sustainable Design Talks
Join us to discuss sustainability in design. The event will be held in English and organized as part of the nationwide ArkMuoto festival.

9:30 Opening remarks by Katja Soini, Chairperson of Ornamo board
9:40 Skills for Planet Blueprint presentation by British Design Council
10:30 Navigating the future: Lets explore the changes in the operating environment of design companies – Based on how sustainability is shaping countries and companies. Panel discussion.
11:30 Presentation of the 2026 sustainability events by Ornamo team
12:00 Wrap-up and closing remarks. Time to meet with colleagues.
KESY Sustainable Design Entrepreneurship Network: The project develops a model for a unique multidisciplinary R&D network that does not yet exist in the design industry. The KESY Design Network is a collaboration network between small and medium-sized design businesses and researchers, sharing information on current laws, regulations, and responsible design practices affecting the design industry. Through collaboration, the network applies knowledge and focuses on key sustainability goals that design businesses must consider in their work. The network supports design businesses in developing their responsible business practices and thereby improving their business conditions.
